10 Days of 24/7 prayer: 17-26 May 2012

Pray Globally, Gather Locally

17 – 26 May 2012

“I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth"

Isaiah 62:6-7

The 10 Days preceding the Global Day of Prayer creates an excellent opportunity to unite in prayer with millions around the globe based on Acts 1 & 2 and the day and night prayer help us to gradually build a lifestyle of prayer in our communities, as well as to focus our prayers much wider than our personal and national needs as we pray with millions during this time.

One Day! 1 January to 31 December 2012

ONE DAY IN THE GAP: UPDATE 2012

165 Days of the 266 days of 2012 have already been booked where churches committed themselves to pray for the full 24 hours for One Day.

Last year (1 Sep-31 Dec 2011) we had 249 congregations or groups that prayed for South Africa as part of the OneDay initiative with 104 days covered in prayer.

Many more groups or congregations are praying and we would like to get their detail in order to form a picture of where people are praying during this one year of prayer for South Africa.

Do encourage your church or prayer group to take One Day in 2012 to stand in the gap for South Africa.

What is our prayer focus?
For a definite spiritual revival in the church.

For God's power in the church through the working of the Holy Spirit.

The need and pain in our country and the poor and needy.

For the millions of unsaved people.

A simple prayer strategy

· To have a year of non-stop prayer for our nation.

· Uniting local churches and Christian organizations to pray for the nation.

· Encouraging local churches to take at least one day (full 24 hours) to pray. Any day between 1 January and 31 December 2012.

OneDay

We encourage congregations, schools, prayer groups, Bible study groups, etc. to take one day to pray for 24 hours (or at least as many hours as possible on that day). We call on Christians in the market place to have prayer meetings at their places of work. Where possible, take more than one day, depending on each one's circumstances. Some churches may want to take 3 days or 7 days, etc. Some may want to take a OneDay every quarter. It is open for every church to decide how they want to do it.

Register a specific day when you will stand in the gap for the nation. pray@jwipn.com, tel.012-3653213.

Pray for the Persecuted Church

An estimated 150,000 Christians are martyred every year.
200 million Christians are restricted from living out their Christianity.
There is a growing onslaught on Christianity world-wide.
More and more countries are accepting legislation creating greater difficulty for Christians to live out their faith and restricts them from gathering freely.
This is true of China, Russia, the Middle East, Europe and Canada.
There are continuous efforts to ban the Bible.

Let us not neglect to pray for our brothers and sisters in difficult circumstances.
